Workshops begin at Noon and end at 5:00 pm.
Show begins at 6:30 pm and ends at 8:45 pm.

Workshop fee, which includes a show ticket, is $70 after May 10. Register before then and be rewarded with a $10 discount.
Purchase show tickets for $10. Space for both workshops and the show is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.


Our Journey To Our Inner Dancer will take us through the chakras, the body's energy system.



Aela Badiana, born and raised in Germany, is well known for both Tribal Fusion and Egyptian Cabaret. In 2006 she opened her own studio in Gloucester, VA and formed Wicked Hips Tribal. Shortly after that she returned to Germany where she taught numerous workshops, completed her own training manual for tribal dancers, and managed to get her AFAA certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Fit Instructor certifications. Her first instructional DVD was recently released.

Aela's workshop begins the Journey at the first, the root, chakra. She'll use Yoga and tribal movements to illustrate ways of grounding ourselves in our dance --- [12:15 pm to 12:45 pm]

Chandani has been exploring Middle Eastern Belly Dancer for the past 13 years. She's come to know and understand the real meaning behind the dance through learning its history, traditions and movements. Chandani has taught belly dance in various facilities in New York and Virginia Beach. She is a sought after professional Belly Dancer, workshop presenter, merchandise vendor and Middle Eastern Dance teacher.

Chandani continues the Journey through the second, sacral chakra. She'll teach the focused, emotional, slow movements of taxim to help us express our sensuality and creativity --- [12:55 pm to 1:25 pm]



Chelydra has been teaching Middle Eastern dance for more than 20 years. She is recognized nationally for her devotion to and dramatic skill in dancing the folk dances of North Africa and the Middle East, including the Romany dances of Andalusia, Turkey, and Russia. Chelydra offers belly dance classes in Newport News and for the last 16 years has presented Beach Blanket Beledi, an annual seminar and dance party held in Nags Head, NC, on Columbus Day weekend.

Chelydra conducts us through the third chakra, the solar plexus, our power center and teaches us to connect to our "wild woman" energy --- [1:35 pm to 2:05 pm]

Kalaa has more than 20 years of dance experience, Kalaa brings grace and style to each of her performances. Based in Virginia Beach, VA. Kalaa specializes in classical Egyptian and cabaret styles, she enthralls audiences with her emotive interpretation of the music. Her award winning choreography and instruction have made her a favorite and well sought after dancer across the U.S. Kalaa is a Certified Belly Dance Trainer and currently teaches weekly classes in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, VA and performs professionally throughout Southeastern Virginia.

Kalaa is our guide for the fourth, heart chakra. She'll focus on posture and poses to demonstrate opening to universal love in a balanced, deliberate way --- [2:15 pm to 2:45 pm]


Sonia Monson has been teaching Fusion style belly dance since 1998 for Norfolk Parks and Rec. She is one of the organizers for EarthDance.

We meet Sonia at our fifth chakra, the throat, and learn to communicate our truth with beautiful hand and arm movements --- [2:55 pm to 3:25 pm]



Janeeda has been teaching and performing for close to 40 years. She's a well known Belly Dance instructor, talented performer, artistic director and principle choreographer for Isis Rising Music and Dance Ensemble as well as artistic director for World Fusion Dance Theatre. She sings, teaches yoga and martial arts, is a classically trained pianist and an awesome finger cymbal player . Janeeda writes on "Spirituality and Dance" for "Zaghareet Magazine" and has been published in Habibi, The Crescent Moon and Afsana.

Janeeda will conduct us through the sixth, third-eye, chakra where we learn to balance our higher and lower selves and trust our intuition --- [3:35 pm to 4:05 pm]


As we reach the conclusion of the Journey at the seventh, crown, chakra all participants will join together to joyously dance the inner dance we discovered on our journey. Our talented presenters will dance with us expressing their own journey and facilitating each of us in dancing our own dance. --- [4:15 pm to 4:45 pm]
